Moody Gardens

We had a great time at Moody Gardens over Memorial Day Weekend. Lots of fun with TMCA and other friends. Lots of great weather and time to play on the water. Boats everywhere! It has fun but nerve wracking navigating through all the barge traffic on the way home.

We got a new camera and we're learing how to use it properly. I need to get some software that will allow me to sort and re-size my pictures so that I can post them more easily. I will try to post pictures from the Moody Gardens trip this weekend if I can get the software and get it figured out. Here is one picture that I just can't wait to post. I took this picture in the Houston Ship Channel. This dolphin was having a blast in the bow wake of a container ship.

Bayland

We sailed to Bayland Marina this weekend with TMCA. Saturday the seas were kinda wallowey (that's my new "official" sailing term for the day!) but there was plenty of wind. In fact the whole weekend was really windy. On Sunday we had one of those perfect days under sail. In fact, Sunday was one of the most relaxing days we've had in a long time.

Even Harley loved this cruise!

You could see the Fred Hartman Bridge from our slip in Bayland Marina

Giant ship headed our way down the Houston Ship Channel!

We had a hitch hiker on the spreaders!

Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

Sad Days

My heart is heavy this week. Last Wednesday, April 30th our friends Scott and Marya lost their two year old son Marley in an accidental drowning in our marina pool. This has been such a sad time for all of our marina extended family and friends. It's so hard to understand how God would allow this to happen to such a beautiful child. It's definitely one of those times to rely on faith. It has been especially difficult for me as I mourn for Marley and remember Justin. Two beautiful boys.

American Cancer Society - Relay for Life

Last Friday we participated in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life. Jessica was a team leader and Troy and I, Suzette (Jessica's mom) Tori, Samantha and David were on our team. It was a fantastic event. Troy got to wear a purple Survivor Tshirt and walk in a survivor victory lap. The relay lasted all night long (7:00 pm to 7:00 am). We made it to midnight and had to make a break for the boat. Next year we're planning to make our team even bigger. Troy says he's going to be Team Captain so don't be surprised if you hear from him asking for donations or participation in the relay. The Montgomery County Relay raised over $162,188.57 at their event.

It's all good!!! It's Jessica's birthday today, wow how time flies by, The girls are all grown up and spreading their wings.. Happy birthday!

GREAT NEWS!

Troy's PET Scan results are in - NED (No Evidence of Disease). It sure is nerve wracking leading up to and waiting for the results but it sure is nice to hear the words that you want to hear. Other than his monthly blood work Troy won't have to go back to see the oncologist until August.
